Post by Walzville JungleA grand jury has indicted a Kansas City, Missouri, man in the killing of two people in Minneapolis last year.
Prosecutors say Lavell Jacvon Piggie, 20, shot and killed the two victims on February 10, 2022, after a "suspected dispute over a significant quantity of missing narcotics," per a Friday news release.
The victims — identified only as "Victim 1" and Victim 2" — were found slumped over inside a four-door sedan that had "jumped the curb and come to a stop in a snowbank" near 2031 Sheridan Ave. N. They were pronounced dead at the scene.
Investigators used phone tracking data as well as surveillance footage and eyewitness accounts to tie Piggie to the crime, according to the news release.
The evidence established that the defendant "was seen entering the four-door sedan with the two victims and the group then drove for eight minutes across North Minneapolis."
"Witnesses and surveillance video then tracked an individual later identified as Mr. Piggie exiting the vehicle after the gunshots and fleeing the scene," the Hennepin County Attorney's Office says.
Seven days after the shooting, a search of Piggie's home turned up "significant amounts of suspected crack cocaine, marijuana, fentanyl, and various other narcotics," along with $3000 in cash and "a baggie filled with .40 caliber live rounds of ammunition."
These rounds were of the same caliber and manufacture as the ones found in the victims' vehicle, the criminal complaint says.
Piggie was ultimately arrested on Feb. 22, 2022, when authorities tracked him to Brooklyn Center using phone data. After a high-speed pursuit, officers stopped the vehicle, identified the suspect as Piggie, and took him into custody.
The criminal complaint says the investigation is ongoing, and that forensic testing is pending.
Piggie is currently being held in the Hennepin County jail, records show. Each of his charges carries a maximum penalty of 40 years in prison.

It annoys me no end when i see ignorant reports that include
stimulants as narcotic drugs with cannbis-based items so labeled as
well. The reporters have not bothered to educate themselves and take
the Police Report as gospel.
